Palo Alto-based Facebook launched a Web-based mail service. The service, called a social inbox will include messages from emails, text and instant messages and Facebook chats.
It' s amazing the way facebook is pacing their journey. I personally feel this is a very smart move and would increase the engagement of facebook users further. It would be interesting to see how Google reacts to this, Gmail has been a strength for Google so far but with the introduction of Facebook mail it seems like Google is going to have to rethink their strategies.
Anyways, the competition is good for the users, it would be intersesting to see if the web mail functuionality gains the same popularity as the facebook chat has....
